Please Help Stop S. 978 and PROTECT IP!

Just got this e-mail from something I signed up for a while back. READ IT, SHARE IT, AND DO WHAT YOU CAN! THIS IS BS AND MUST BE STOPPED!

Wednesday’s the big day.  The House Judiciary committee will be taking up its version of S. 978 and PROTECT IP — And we need the whole Internet to fight back.
Leading civil liberties and tech policy organizations are organizing an internet-wide day of protest this Wednesday: We’re dubbing it “American Censorship Day” and we’ll be protesting this new legislation that would make posting to YouTube a felony and let the US government (and corporations) block Americans’ access to websites.

Wednesday is the day that the House of Representatives will take up HR. 3261 — the “Stop Online Piracy Act” (SOPA).  If this law passes, you will wake up to find some of your favorite websites blocked over (bogus) copyright and patent claims.  
 
And posting videos containing copyrighted material will become a potential felony, with innocent Facebook and YouTube users facing jail time for expressing themselves with music and video clips.
 
The Internet in free societies will careen away from the principles of freedom and openness has embodied — and towards the likes of China’s, with governments and corporations blocking access to large swaths of the web.

Groups participating in American Censorship Day will show every US visitor a message asking them to contact Congress immediately to oppose this bill.   We’re preparing a simple piece of code anyone can paste into their site to make this easy.
